Tao Yuanming

Tao Yuanming (circa 365-427), with a name of Qian, a character of Yuan Liang, and a nickname of Mr. Wu Liu, was given a private posthumous title to Mr. Jing Jie, who was formerly known as Mr. Jing Jie. He was a native of Xunyang Chaisang (now Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province) and a native of Yifeng, Jiangxi Province. He was an outstanding poet, litterateur, and essayist from the end of the Eastern Jin Dynasty to the beginning of the Liu Song Dynasty.

Tao Yuanming once held positions such as Jiangzhou Tribute to Wine, Jianwei Joining the Army, Zhenjun Joining the Army, and Pengze County Magistrate. He was appointed as Pengze County Magistrate for the last time, and after more than 80 days, he abandoned his position and left, returning to rural seclusion. He is the first pastoral poet in China, known as "the ancestor of ancient and modern recluse poets", "the ancestor of recluse poets", and "the originator of the pastoral poetry school".

Tao Yuanming's works include "Drinking", "A Tale of the Peach Blossom Garden", "Returning Home and Coming", and "Biography of Mr. Wu Liu". He is the first literary giant in Jiangxi.
